About me and this blog

I was born in a developing country that has been suffering war, international sanctions, political and socio-economic turbulence, and traditionalism which resulted in highly complicated situations. I acquired my first degree in social policy and development planning (or social planning as it is called back home) in the hope that I would be able to contribute to society. Having such a background, the poverty, inequalities and injustices that people are subjected to still bother me deeply.

I moved to Europe to study the methodology of social sciences as well as its philosophy and epistemology. It was then that I started to seriously think about and gradually understand the nature of modernity and its consequences; therefore, modernity is another issue that concerns me.

I don’t think there is a comprehensive subject that covers all my research interests; I thus consider myself an interdisciplinary researcher who, in his academic life, has focused on issues related to gender and sexuality, in particular, issues related to gender inequality, internet sexuality, pornography, virginity, the body, sex works and sex education. More recently, I have focused on the study of close relationships, with regard to intimacy, love, and commitment issues.

There is much more to my personality than my academic path and qualifications. I am very passionate about history and have spent a considerable amount of time reading up on the subject. I strongly believe that there are many lessons to be learnt from the past. I also am very much into Persian poetry and writings and I highly appreciate its rich literature. I especially enjoy Persian lyric poems—both classic works by Hafez Shirazi and Molana Jalal-e-Din Mohammad Balkhi, and modern poems by Forogh Farokhzad and Mehdi Akhavan-Sales. I also enjoy many classical writings which have exalted styles, especially the work of Abul-Fazl Beyhaqi. Furthermore, I have great respect for the Arts, and in particular, I enjoy Persian architecture, calligraphy, miniature paintings, and the internationally well-known Persian art of rug weaving.

This blog aims to reflect my interests and create a platform for the sharing of knowledge and ideas. Please do get in touch if you find the content of this blog interesting.
